I'll take them one at a time from my own Satantric (Satanist tantric) perspective. it is individualistic, don't expect it to be reflected in the greater tantric (or maybe even in the neo-tantric) community. that said.... TANTRA recognizing the cosmic polar energies dancing amidst the glorious stars and black holes, we may take up our will and participate in the wonderful monumental meld. tantra is the assumption of one's rightful position of soveignty in relation to the Balance of All. this is simultaneously a stupendous and extremely simple feat, orienting to one's orbit or dharma and gracefully playing the co-star to a divine partner. this role takes many forms, from warrior (cf. "The Bhagavad Gita" for such an example) to lover (Hesse's "Siddhartha" surely qualifies here), with no sure route as one's lot. those who achieve some measure of success in this mystical path might be called 'monk', 'nun', 'tyagi', 'renunciant', 'sannyasin' or any other of a number of peculiar and extraordinary names; they cannot be identified in any overt way, though some will adopt outer garments for the purposes of encouraging an inner resolution. the tantric adept achieves a kind of free-floating equipoise with the world as stage. real feeling people participate in a play of masks and false dreams, the adept releasing hir hold on any of these, and is therefore capable of both greater resolution and flexibility for hir navigation by an intuited course, dancing with hir deity. MAGIC where tantra is concerned, magic is but one example of the tools available for effecting change, and yet it is one that intrigues and spices up any mystic's life. how better to play with one's Beloved than imaginatively and heroically? magic's secret is in the symbolic and natural connection between the goal and components of the spell. 'tantric magic' is that spell which enhances or contributes substantially to the one's extraordinary lovemaking. ALCHEMY the way that alchemy is described through time and within the cultures of its practice makes it quite rational to classify as a type of magic. however, one of the more important aspects of alchemy that transcends magical methods is transubstantiation. effecting a substantial change (of material, character, spirit) in a direct and intentional way is an alchemical "work". doing all three at once could wisely be considered to be 'the Great Work'. alchemy is therefore a refined or escalated magical enterprise, complete with the application of stimuli conducive toward temperament and ecstasy. your question is how alchemy might apply to tantric magic. it applies when the aim of the magic is mystical (compare Hermetic magic, Crowley's magick, etc.) and the Stone of the Philosophers which so many alchemists are attempting to so carefully rarefy is the being and essence of oneself. in this circumstance tantra is the backdrop in front of which one's entirety is refined through magical transmutation into a precious and mysterious result, often symbolized by figures like the Christ, the Buddha, and the Old Boy. strictly speaking, laboratory experiments may be extremely effective in assisting one's sacred fuck, and the tangled weave of bodies in conjugal embrace constitutes a type of alchemy all its own (cf.
