Everything arises in the present. |There appears to be a connection to desire. |Is this connection real or not? The distinction between real and unreal is a byproduct of attachment. |In ending attachment, is one still subject to it? Attachment is an option which one always has. We may learn that we do not wish to choose it. |Finally, does one really want to end attachment? The question is ill-asked. Compassion makes attachment possible. If we were to end the POSSIBILITY of attachment, then we would end compassion. Attachment is more like inertia than cookies. With cookies one can eliminate them from one's experience. With inertia it is an ever-present choice one may make. To bypass the choice is the only alternative to not making it, and this leads to insensitivity.
