With what Mu* are you involved? (If you are involved with more than one Mu*, please answer separately for each about which you would like to reply. Thanks.) LambdaMOO 3. How long have you been involved with this Mu*? 1 year, 6 months. 4. Do you have experience with other Mu*s? Yes. 5. What is your current role in the Mu*? Programmer, builder, social entity. 6. How has this changed over time? I used to be a new player who had no idea what was going on. I learned quite quickly. I got my programmer bit and my builder bit and began attempting to get respect, which was readily given. People have no inhibitions here. 7. What are some of the most important things you've learned while being involved with this Mu*? Social things. I've learned a lot about how to handle different people, plus some of the electronic things. 8. What does the name of the Mu* signify to you? It signifies to me the server name. :) 9. Do you know where the name came from? If so, where? No, I don't. 10. How did this Mu* get started? This MOO was started as a project by the builder, Pavel Curtis. He was, I believe, an intern at Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research Complex). It has grown into a great social area, and, more accurately, an entire virtual society. 11. If possible, describe the formal structure of the Mu*. I.e. if I wanted to know what the Mu* looked like, how would you describe its layout to me? A house with thousands of people living inside, all interacting with one another in different ways. 12. Who/what were the major influences upon the development of its social structure and operation? Precursors to electronic societies, such as PernMUSH and others who designed the programming language and did the original coding. Pavel was the major builder. 13. How would you describe this social structure? Everyone is pretty much equal on this MOO in my opinion. 14. How has this changed over time? It hasn't. 15. How are important decisions made within the Mu*? By a petitioning system. It's very much like a democracy. 16. What do you think is the purpose of the Mu*? I have no idea. I use it for social endeavours and mind expansion. 17. What role does the 'player' have in the Mu*, if any? None. 18. What part does the Mu* play in society at large, if any? I don't see a big part. It's our own society. 19. What have been your greatest obstacles as a Mu*, since your involvement? None, really. This MOO is a great free society. The only problem i've had is getting respect and learning the ropes. 20. What changes have been made to handle these? None that i know of, except the tutorial. 21. What are the goals of this Mu*? ? 22. What is your favorite vision of what the Mu* will become? ? -------------------------- QUESTIONAIRE ENDS
