Introduction

last night, LUNAtix (Full Moon) I saw 'Devil's Advocate' and wore for
the first time a point-down pentacle given to me by my Abyss. when
symbolism affects me profoundly, sometimes I obtain revelations
as a result. more often than not these occur either late at night
or just after waking, in the Place Between. this morning I awoke
with a clear and inspiring understanding of Christian language and
the significance of magick within this vision. what follows is an
attempt to express this understanding in as simple a manner as I can.

this is an elaboration on the nature of the Christ Jesus Formula in
general and as it specifically applies to me after having initiated
myself as a Christian mage many moons prior. this latter was
documented in a ritual taking place offline, as well as entering
into the Desert of cyberspace, found at the following URL:

the Formula as I have yet derived it from the New Testament is thus:

PREPARATION
1) Go to the place of baptism
2) Get baptized by a mage
3) Follow the Spirit of God into the Place of Barrenness
4) Answer unto the Tempter/Adversary

MAGICK
5) Fulfill the prophecies of the past
6) Preach the Word/Truth/Gospel
7) Call the Apostles/Disciples/Fishers
8) Teach, preach and heal all those who come forth
9) Crucifixion
10) Resurrection

my aim here is to come to express a preliminary context within which the
secondary set of phases (MAGICK) may be understood individually through
an examination and analysis of the New Testament.

Christianity and the Mysteries

Christ Jesus is a Formula, a composite of expressed Mysteries, which
trust and application of which yields the condition called 'a State
of Grace', 'Heaven on Earth', or 'Paradise'. by its nature a Formula
is not explicit, but implicit. it is a set of Mysteries, a pattern of
symbols, which can, when interpreted correctly, enable entry into a
State of Grace. the Formula is encountered in the character of a creed.

the Mysteries are particular configurations of language and meaning,
generally ambiguous complexes (such as Birth, Death, Salvation and
Resurrection), which imply initiation, sometimes using symbolism of
physical development and change.

this Formula and these Mysteries are interpreted by the aspirant as
is appropriate to their development. some will understand them as
referring to historical and literal descriptions implying very
specific requirements of behavior and conceptual attitude. for some
they will imply a more relativistic and situational instruction. in
all cases the intended result is what is called 'Salvation', or 'a
Return to the State of Grace'.

it is the particular interpretation of the Mysteries of the Formula
which is given in revelation: a revealed understanding concerning
scripture and the significance and method of engaging Salvation.
those who obtain or accept a similar interpretation of these are
members of one's 'Church', as they understand the Mysteries in a
particular fashion that provides a group endeavor of shared means.
inasmuch as the particular application of the Formula arises in a
combination of behavioral parameters and credal components, so the
Church benefits from adhering to these and achieving a consensus
such that those within it are not drawn away from the promise of
perfecting the Formula in their lives through dedicated application.

'Christianity' is the composite of all creeds and applications that
obtain to the Formula of the Messiah or Christ, and 'Catholic
Christianity' is the ecumenical acknowledgement that all religions
which have achieved focus on a Formula of Mysteries for Salvation
are a part of the Christian method.

beyond these explicit descriptions lie the variations of individual
perspective which pertain to my Church in the sense described above,
and these may not apply to those outside it. the scripture is a
particular expression of the Mysteries. my interpretations of them
reveal my spiritual condition and affirm the identity of my Church.


The Fall From Grace and Salvation

the Mysteries apply to states of consciousness and the transformation
thereof. Innocence is a state into which we are ordinarily born,
possibly excepting certain individuals who have somehow attained some
knowledge of the Mystery of Death otherwise.

at a certain point this Innocence -- the initial and dependent State
of Grace (integration with the whole, harmony) -- is lost, and the
Biblical instruction has it that it is through the development of
surity, certainty, the presumption and pride that is symbolized by
the eating from the Tree of Knowledge. this results in a Fall from
the State of Grace and an encounter with the Mystery of
Death/Change/Time.

until the loss of Innocence Time or Change as a part of personal
experience is not truly encountered, it is a kind of fiction by virtue
of the nature of our undeveloped consciousness. protected by Guardians,
obedient to the restrictions of their counsel, we dwell in a primitive
Paradise without the complexity of past and future concerns. all is a
state of continuity marked by the familiar and reassuring.

at some point we encounter the Master of Change/Death/Time, the Serpent,
who dwells in the Tree of Knowledge promising that the results in eating
of it are the mastery of Change/Death/Time. warned by our Guardians
that we should not take up these tools (lest we simultaneously lose and
begin the often painful journey toward regaining the State of Grace) and
that if we do we will 'die' (change, enter into the temporal experience
and encounter the Mystery of Death), we eventually set out on the process
of maturation through disillusionment of our Innocence and the hubris of
a judging certainty.

while the Paradise of Innocence is more simplistic than that to which we
aspire in maturation, it is of the same character as that which we
abandoned in order to encounter the Mystery of Death -- it is the kingdom
of God, an experiential condition of resolve and liberation through
complete cooperation with and coordination to the Will of God (the Way,
the Dharma, the Shariah, among many other names).

however, we cannot merely intellectually decide to enter into this
experiential (spiritual, subjectively fullfilling) condition. we must
discover the proper combination of credal Formula by which we can mature
(tempering and expanding) into it, transforming ourselves and those
around us in the process.


The Formula of Christ Jesus and the Church

to 'believe in Christ Jesus as Savior' is to indicate one's acceptance of
the value of a particular credal Formula in a direct attempt to achieve
Salvation (though in our fallacious certainty we may presume that one
creed will serve all people). the Savior is the one who expresses the
Way through hir actions, enacting a restitution to divine consciousness,
whether contained in stories or direct and present behavior.

to 'have faith in Christ Jesus as Lord' is to presume the efficiency
of the Formulaic application within life and that it leads to the
attainment of the authority of the consciousness of God. it compares
directly with the Taoist Sage, the Thelemic King, and a number of other
aristocratic or mystical Offices (the Elect).

'the Resurrection' is an experience of restoration to the Paradisiac
experience, though with the understanding gained through an encounter
with the Mystery of Death. retaining this experience but not returning
to Innocence is achieved through Forgiveness, the restorative power of
compassion, the release of the world and avoiding an evaluative (final)
judgement. this makes possible an insight or understanding of the
relationship others have to that divine consciousness, yet it does not
allow evaluative certainty regarding the overall value of another.

Mosaic Law instituted a specific Formulaic interpretation (codified in
a variety of laws and rules of conduct). the New Covenant of
Christianity suspends this Law on the basis of Church consensus -- that
which is forbidden only which inspires our kin to a "stumble", to
encounter a Fall from Grace, this being resolved via consensus process
(described in the Gospel of Luke) and thoroughly sincere witness.

the only evaluative concern of the Christian, therefore, beyond self-
reflection and intuiting one's relation to the intuited Will of God, is
a determination of who is and is not a member of our Church. community
is affected by individual behavior, and the integrity of the Christian

community is retained through careful coordination of Formulaic 
application.  should it be discerned that one of the Church has 
'strayed' (i.e.  taken an avenue of behavior or belief which does 
not conform to standards the community can withstand), then they 
should be ignored as exemplars and considered beyond the bounds 
of the Church.

this need include no moral condemnation, it merely indicates the social
boundaries of the Christian community and regulates the parameters of
spiritual practice as understood by its Elders and those whose combination
of personal characteristics require the same Formulaic creed and 
traditional interpretation. in this way it may be seen that Churches 
are social transformers inducing the maturation of the community members.  
authority within the social tradition is of a different quality than 
the authority of the Lord, though these may be obtained by the same 
individual.


Christian Magick

the magick associated with the Formula of Christ is predominantly of a
mystical character. through self-transformative application, the
individual attains to the consciousness of God and therein obtains a
a Formulaic creed (and/or interpretion) which will have expansive
repercussion in catalyzing social process to speed and facilitate the
Salvation of all human beings. while this ideal may fail in practice
(diversity of menu -- in Buddhism called 'upaya' -- being a blessing
of the God consciousness making possible a number of roads into the
Paradiac Valley), the proof of its value lies in its attractiveness
and popularity as well as the resulting condition of the people
engaging application.

a magical discipline is 'Christian' in that it adheres to some portion
of the creeds and applications that obtain to the Formula of the
Messiah or Christ. a Christian endeavor is 'magical' when it results
in an intended transformation of self or community toward the
consciousness of God.

with this in mind I can now approach an analysis of the features of
commonality in the Gospels that imply a Formula of Christ Jesus which
may be engaged by any properly prepared Christian mage.
