I do not guard against manifestation, but I do guard against assault.

The best defense against malevolent assault is a working knowledge of
the energies and methods of the entity in question.  That is, if I am 
concerned with demons in general, then I come to know my enemy as
myself.  If I am to guard against a *particular* adversary, then I am
benefitted by studying not only references to this being but the entity 
itself.  This is the path of the Warrior.

Allies are of course helpful yet make one dependent.  If we must always
rely upon the power of an angel, for example, to keep us from harm, then
we'd best hope that it is our Holy Guardian Angel so that it will be at
our side barring extraordinary circumstances.


Once I had a Robe of Eris, deep and dark purple and open in front.  I named
hir 'Samekh' because of the shape of the Hebrew letter (I imagined that it
looked most like a large square flowing robe).  SHe protected me from
calcinating dogmatism, the harsh light of reason and its tendency to favor
thoughts and ideas which are conducive only to rational understanding.

I have utilized the mantram 'Aum Krim Namah Kaliya' as a spell, in that 
when I desire to invoke a particular calm or ecstasy I may chant the name
of the Most Beautiful Queen of Demons and She favors me with Her bliss.

I have developed a certain mudra (hand-gesture-configuration) combining
very important power-signs.  When separate, my left hand makes the sign
of the Horned One of Old, forefinger and pinky extended with thumb bent
toward palm against top of other fingers.  My right hand is in some ways
a symmetrical mirror, folding the forefinger and pinky under my thumb
while extending the middle two.

I have used these mudras as keys to unlock the Cosmic Vault (seemed like
unlocking at the time, yet it could have been a securing after ransack :>).
When I do my rounds as a security guard I maintain these the entire time,
and sometimes if I feel fear in a deserted place I will also use them.

They are both offensive and defensive, however, in that while they may be
focussed as power-generators they may also be combined at my chest/heart 
in an integral manner.  This was how I discovered them, in prayer.

There are means and means.  Make them up as you go.  Discover what is 
right for you.  The demons are hurt.  I interact with them and we are
healed.

   
|How do you discern the spiritual influences in your magick?

This is a rather ambiguous question, on the face of it, but I will
interpret in my own fashion.

I discern spiritual influences of my magick through reflection of that
around me.  When the Tree of Life blossoms, then I know that my watering
was helpful.  Usually my intuition about such things is quite accurate,
from what I can tell.  As long as I maintain my chastity (sincerety,
honesty, openness) then my magick is bound to be spiritually efficacious.
