BAG BALM OINTMENT
Bag Balm Ointment is widely utilized in the dairy barn, for it
originated as a medicated salve for the udders of milk cows.
It has also long been used as a skin salve for humans to
treat cuts, abrasions, and stubborn skin irritations. We
recommend this strongly-scented, lanolin-rich ointment for
use as-is, and also advocate it as a base in compounding
spiritually protective hoodoo rubs.
It has been manufactured since the 19th century
by a family-owned Vermont company called The Dairy Association and
is available in two sizes -- 1 oz. and 10 oz. -- each
packed in a vintage-style square tin.
To make your own Condition Ointment, Rub, or
Solid Perfume, blend the Lucky Mojo Condition Oil or
Essential Oil of your choice with this prepared Ointment.
You can also use Bag Balm as a base for
Herbal Rubs: Melt the Ointment over gentle heat, mix in fresh or dried herbs
until it will hold no more, let sit for one month, then
gently heat again and strain; the Ointment can be poured back into its original tin and
will re-solidify with
the essence of the added herbs in it.
