Comment:
A student of Jay Hambidge shows how he learned to use whirling squares, root rectangles, logarithmic spirals, and other ancient Greek geometry tricks to create art deco architectural friezes. Similar to the books of Claude Bragdon, but with much clearer and cleaner exposition. The icon that identifies these Sacred Landscape web pages is a root-five spiral design by Edwards, taken from this book. CY

Comment:
The first book in English on Feng Shui, written in the 19th century by a British missionary to China. An invaluable resource, it treats the larger landscape as its subject, and explains in detail the connections between geomancy, the Chinese zodiac, the five elements, the male and female principles, and belief in the spirits of the dead. This book is refreshing to read because it long precedes the current new age diminution of feng shui to a pseudo-hip form of interior decoration. CY
