Comment:
This is an excellent book that details the making of a nation in terms of the uses of its buildings and its land. The book begins with an
analysis of the development of the American home. This is followed by illustrated surveys of the American work
place, Main Street (the shopping district), parks and playlands, and ends on a discussion of the marks we make on the land through our development.
This is a great book, with great photographs. There is also a compainion video, with is just as well done.
It can probably be found at the local library, or ask your local PBS station to rerun it. PMN
