To: alt.magick From: PAL Subj: I Ching (0000.iching-.pal) Date: unknown Note that both Lao-tse and Kung-tse based their cosmologies on the I-Ching as well as the buddhist Patriarchs' teaching who combined Taoism and Mahayana into Ch'an(Zen). So if you have a previous training in any of those disciplines (*not* simply read about it) it will help you to understand, but be aware that Knug-tse stated explicitly that a man is not able to begin to learn how to understand the I-Ching before being 40 years old, because before that age people have not lived enough to see change in action in the world. Finally, do not waste your time reading Legge's translation unless you are simply interested in the scholar aspects of classical chinese culture. Real magick has no rituals nor fanciness. The I-Ching *is* a source of real power if you understand what I mean. Never despise it. It can be your master if you allow it to talk to you but it will certainly despise you if you are foolish enough to not listen to it. PAL
