Both "truth" and "meaning" are imposed by us upon our own consciousness. They
will vary from person to person. They exist, but only as arbitrarily chosen
self-references. To declare a universal "truth" to any particular "meaning"
is futile. It could never be established.

Traditional associations of the Tarot may be edifying and insightful, but they
are essentially no different than those assigned through free association of
someone ignorant of the history. In no way can a given meaning of a Tarot
card be measurably more true than another. It might be more elegant or more
consistent with the symbolism of the other cards, but that does not make it
more true.
