Present BOTA policy is to admit OTO members but ban them from holding
positions of responsibility in BOTA -- or so I have been told by BOTA
officials. OTO doesn't care one way or the other, except that BOTA is
a good place to learn some Tarot, Gematria and a bit of Golden Dawn
material. In other words, BOTA members are welcome in OTO, but OTO
members might be advised not to mention OTO in BOTA settings.
BOTA's rules appear to have arisen out of a situation where a BOTA
member who was also an Associate OTO member wanted to be married in a
BOTA ceremony. There was some difference of agreement over the
language of the marriage vows. Seems an odd reason for
discrimination.
