Clearly, even within the relatively narrow world of French derived Occult Tarot, there's all sorts of variations in terms of interpretation and in this case magickal correspondence. And even within single decks, such as Thoth or Rider-Waite, people make up their own meanings and even systems of correspondence which have little or nothing to do with the intended meanings of those decks' designers. There's even some books on the Thoth deck which propose ignoring all thelemick/crowleyan aspects, in order to get to pure inspiration of that deck's real designer--this all being paraphrase here--even though there's plenty of extant independently verifiable evidence that Harris took directions from Crowley in designing this deck. Though it was by no means a one way deal, Harris made some suggestions Crowley considered, and it looks like others including one Robert Cecil assisted in development of the Thoth deck. *the point here is regardless of historical veracities, when it comes to the mythical world of belief, people will believe what they want (I just have trouble when the two get mixed)--anyhow, who can say what way is the best way for all? The only deal with this particular example, is it seems basic ground rules need to be agreed upon before commencing with readings--e.g. for this reading I will use the Thoth deck as Crowley suggested in various books--thus in that defined context, this Star/Moon mixup would not really be relevant.
