When you have the lights turned down and the candles burning, it makes a great scrying tool. Another alternative, if you have the room indoors or want to make an outdoor pool: Purchase a small black pond liner from a landscaping supply or home improvement center. The only problem with having this outdoors is that you must hook in a pump to keep the water moving. If you don't you end up with water scum and mosquitoes will breed in it.
