The SRP's are one of the more underused aspects of the GD legacy, so far as I can tell. Part of the reason for this could be that many people cut their magickal teeth on Modern Magick, wherein Don Michael Kraig introduces the SIRP and then hardly (never?) mentions it again, instead using the Watchtower Ritual as a one-size-fits-all invoking solution. But to the extent the SRP is used, it is probably used more for invoking than for banishing. Slightly off the topic of your question, Ben Rowe has a very good essay on the Hexagram rituals: http://www.hermetic.com/browe/hexrit.html Whether or not you like his reinterpretation of the LVX signs/INRI formula, the essay is very good at illustrating how the Hex. ritual can be used for any number of purposes. Substitute 'elemental' for 'planetary' and 'pentagram' for 'hexagram', and it might answer some of your questions. Or maybe not. Anyway, it's worth reading.
