For example the sing of the > enterer (Hipocrates) ? You mean Harpocrates, aka the child Horus, the Egyptian God of Silence. Hippocrates on the other hand was a mortal from Greece who had a passing interest in Medicine and invented a famous Oath. :-) Familiarise yourself completely with the god's imagery and significance in Egyptian (or whatever) mythology. Then, to "assume" Him/Her, imagine that you are inside their body, as if it were a full body suit. In other words, you clothe yourself with their Astral form. Identify with that god, so that at the appropriate moment it is as if the god, not you, is performing the ritual action. Assuming a god-form thus involves both physical AND mental actions. You will know when you are successfully assuming a godform, as you will feel a frisson of magical power when doing so. If you are capable of astral projection or lucid dreaming, you will find that if you assume a godform whilst on the astral plane, it is not so much a frisson as a great surge, which can be very surprising indeed if you are not used to it. > > I am looking to perform some experiments using the information contained in > Liber O. I think Crowley means that you are supposed to use your own judgement and experience of magick to decide which spirit is appropriate in any given circumstance. Agrippa, btw, can be found (partially) here: http://www.esotericarchives.com/ And more fully (if you have, inter alia, a fast internet connection and/or some patience) http://digital.lib.msu.edu/onlinecolls/display.cfm?TitleNo=247&FT=gif&I=001 > This then brings up another point, would it not be slightly perilous to the > magician if he invokes simply any spirit that corresponds to the force he is > trying to skry or obtain information about ? This is what I meant by using your judgement and experience of magick - you don't just conjure up "any" spirit. Anyway, proper preparation reduces the risks - knowing the correct Divine names, banishing rituals, etc. > > I have also noticed that the column listing Mystical Western Powers > (Knowledge of science, Vision of Love, Secret of Physical Strength etc) > contains no information or power that relates to the control of the elements > or weather, is there a power that I could explore related to these facets ? > Hmm. In "The Golden Dawn", works involving Natural Phenomena come under the making of Talismans, which is associated with Water. Actually, there is a close correlation between the Z2 ceremonies and the powers listed in "777", to wit: Y - (Fire) - Evocation H - (Water) - Talismans, Natural Phenomena Sh - (Spirit) - Spiritual Development, Invisibility, Transformation V - (Air) - Divination H - (Earth) - Alchemy 31. Shin (qua Fire) - Evocation 23. Mem - Talismans 31b. Shin (qua Spirit) - Invisibility, Transformation, Vision of the Genius 11. Aleph - Divination 32b.
