[from alt.magick: marik@aol.com (Marik); sorry for any duplication techprobs]

Much as I like that old reprobate Uncle Al, and even think that Kraig is
useful as a presenter of traditional ceremonial magick, neither are chaos
magicians.

Chaos Magick is a deconstructionist freestyle approach to actualizing the
magickal intention by subverting the conscious mind through altered states
of consciousness. Chaos magick plays with belief structures, manipulating
them to create desired effects within the psyche of the magician and the
universe at large. The ultimate aim of chaos magick is often defined as
the destruction of the universal consensual belief structure, also known
as the end of the universe as we know it. Chaos magick is the Dada of the
occult, the Stanislavsky approach to ritual.

Since chaos magick is deconstructive and annihilistic it is not usually
suggested that neophyte magicians engage in it. The results are often
chaotic. If you actually don't give a shit about your deeply held
personal beliefs, and think that your conditioning may just be fucking
your life up , then chaos magick is probably for you.

One more thing. Chaos magick actually works. It will definately create
chaos in your life, which may not be the same thing as randomness.

Read Jan Fries' Visual Magick for the best introduction I know to this
style. Order it from Mandrake in England, or see if it's back in print
here. Read anything you can find by Stephen Mace.
