I gather that Spare and Carroll are favored in the culture, though I haven't
always enjoyed these.  many draw on Kenneth Grant, and his _Nightside of
Eden_ and _Cults of the Shadow_ are tasty, though possibly not precisely of
the Chaotic vein.  there are other related authors, like Hakim Bey, Robert
Anton Wilson, and even Aleister Crowley (from whom almost all magical
currents draw their substance), though the only writers aside from the above
I've read or heard of with continuing admiration were Ray Sherwin, 
and Frater V (U) D.  more often I have seen periodicals (such as 'Chaos
International', 'Thanateros' or even bits in 'Mezlim') that contined quality
Chaos materials.  

generally it seems to breaks down as it moves from groups like TOPY (thee
Temple Ov Psychick Youth) and IOT (Illuminates of Thanateros) into a pop-
culture focussed on quasi-electronic rave-music and acid-strewn politics,
respectively.  where you enter into the stream seems to determine what you
may find valuable.  the people are the main attraction, as I know it, not
so much the text.

I'd like to hear these theories and discuss them in alt.magick, X-posted
to alt.magick.chaos, where a dearth of true substance is to be found.
