It would seem, looking at the huge number of differing cosmologies, techniques, and structures, that the practice of magick is intimately tied to internal symbolism. Even if one operates out of the theory that shared thought patterns produce quantum effects greater in magnitude than a single individual, aren't the patterns produced through fiction just as valid. Isn't a pattern, after all, just a pattern? There may be many factors contributing to the magnitude of that effect, but fiction, none-the-less, frequently has buried in it arch-types that are held in common with all "great" mythology,(I put great in quotes,because, after all isn't great really a value judgement). It's my opinion that magick may work even better for an individual that has a great deal of emotion invested in a fictional symbol-set Scathach
