The book contains translations of various Coptic Christian (and some Gnostic) magical papyri. The authors also translate some rather long handbooks and rituals which shed much light on magical angelology and the like, as well as the role of Jesus as a magician and early Christian mysticism. Very good, scholarly, and an excellent companion to Betz' Greek Magical Papyri. JD
