It is not as usually believed, only one spell, if it is conducted properly, which it rarely is, it involves eight separate and rather complex rituals. For the most part, the first two rituals are all that is necessary, as most people are not sufficiently in touch with themselves to require that all eight rituals be used. The two rituals which are usually used are known as 'The putting to sleep of the Guardian Angel, or The Sleeping' and the 'Theft of the guardian spirit." In Afro American practices, which I will lump under the commonly used name 'Santeria,' the second spell is known as the theft of the eleda. The amount of influence gained over another person in this way is quite amazing, but the effects of this work, or at least of the first two spells, can also be replicated in large part by peer pressure and good salesmanship. Revocacion - This is the process of replacing the spirit of one person with that of another. It is often used to replace the spirit of a child with that of a deceased parent, or grand parent. Usually the replacing spirit is that of the child's grand parent or great grand parent. The spirits being used to enter the person (Not in possession, this is a permanent or an almost permanent condition) must be of the same biological sex as the person in whom it is to be implanted. This spell is often done to implant the spirit of a successful but deceased person into a rebellious child. While this work is not at all complex, it is rarely performed. Both of these spells have origins going back to ancient times. They have probably changed a great deal over the centuries, but Babylonian clay tablets and Egyptian papyri both mention similar spells. Chines 'Ghost Workers' also have similar spells, I believe that the affair of the jail was due more to mutual mass hysteria at discovering the presence of a spirit than anything else. The fact that the people all went into hysterics was a typical after reaction to successful spiritual contact through a ouija board. Best Wishes, John M Hansen
