At some point the "bad" gods dropped out and the 36 good gods became the Decans. However, the original 72 hung on in the shadows as good and bad spirits. At some point one of the medieval magical systemizers came up with this (IMO) pointless "Day" and "Night" demon business and put the whole sequence out of phase. Medievalists had a tendency to split-off and lump such sequences into triplicities and quatranaries---e.g. the Enochian Tablets---but we chose to disregard it and move straight around the circle the way the Shemhamephorash does. And speaking of that, there was no original connection between the Goetia demons (a Arabian/Christian system) and the Shemhamephorash (Hebrew) but as soon as they leaked into the Hermetic qabalah, the Goetia magicians picked them up (see Joe Peterson's Lemegeton). We stole 'um fair-and-square and they've been ours for several hundred years. **** Good Magick! Gnome d Plume
