The evidence for the existence of psychic powers is pretty spotty. Still, some folks are convinced anyway, despite not being able to demonstrate them unequivocably. Magick involves deliberate transformations of consciousness. Some of those transformations are very sudden, so they could be called "instant". However, the deliberate induction of a change to a specific non-ordinary state of consciousness may require considerable practice, sometimes in the form of repeatedly using certain rituals.
