Jung first developed the idea of a "Collective Unconscious" when, going through a psychological crisis of his own, he noticed that his dreams were dividing into two groups: those related to his own past, and those related to mythology generally. I personally can think of three postulates to explain this phenomena, of which only the third IMHO would remain unscathed by Occam's Razor: 1. The Collective Unconscious is inherited; 2. The Collective Unconscious is telepathic; 3. The Collective Unconscious is a natural tendency of the mind to latch onto mythological themes. It is only presumed to exist because it explains a number of phenomena in psychology that would otherwise be inexplicable if it didn't exist. > cat yronwode AS http://www.geocities.com/alex_sumner/ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
