In the hoodoo folk-magic tradition, as i was taught, a male lodestone is
angular, irregular, long, or narrow, while a female lodestone tends
toward the compact, cubical form, or has rounded edges. To perform
hetorsexual love-attraction spells, you use a male stone and a female
stone; for homosexual sex-spells, you use either two male stones or two
females. For money-drawing spells, where often only one large lodestone
is used, it is typical to pick a female-shaped stone, due to its bulky,
compact volume.

Similar distinctions between male and female natural rock forms can be
found in Hindu folk religion, where tall, angular, narrow rocks are
consecrated to Siva or Bhairava (a regional fierce-protector form of
Siva) while short, squat, rounded rocks are consecrated to Deva (Kali,
Shakti, Parvati, and other names for the goddess). For wonderful
examples of these well-worshipped rocks, many decorated with metal foil
and red paint, see:

Likewise, in ancient Scottish and English megalithic shrines, some
authors believe that the builders intended tall, angular, male rocks to
represent the sky-god and short, round, squareish, squat rocks the
earth-goddess. See:
