this appears to be the major objection to the sale of the sacred:

	1) that it may be owned in the first place
	2) that ownership may be transferred
	3) that it may be evaluated on a monetary scale
	4) that it may be exchanged for currency

do these things necessarily imply a relationship with the object
sold which is contradictory to considering it 'sacred'? is it
the object itself (e.g. a charm made by particular people),
what the object implies (e.g. a card with the picture of a saint),
for what purpose the object is used (e.g. to heal the sick), that
gives it its 'sacredness'? must it be one of these? more than one?
any particular one?

the answers to these questions determine the predominant
attitude that an individual will bring to the intersection
between mercantilism and spirituality. presuming that any
particular answer(s) to them is 'correct' is the basis of
prejudice and judgementalism surrounding the issue.

blessed beast!
