[from talk.religion.buddhism: <Matthew=E.=Presseau%S99@SLAW.NEU.EDU>]

According to the theory of Ichinen Sanzen of the Lotus Sutra Schools,
all the states of life including Buddhahood are impermanent and
transcendent at the same time. Just quickly, according to this theory
there are ten states of life that an entity can inhabit at any one time:
Hell, Hunger, Anger, Animality, (the four evil paths) Humanity, Rapture,
(the six paths, these two along with the lower four) Learning,
Realization, Bodhisattva and Buddhahood. The life state of the person
is reflected in the way in which the individaul perceives the
environment around them. For instance, a person in the world of anger
perceives an angry world around them, and a person in Buddhahood
perceives a Buddhaland or Nirvanna around them. These two people can
stand right next to each other and perceive differnt worlds due to there
different Karma.

Therefore, according to this theory, Nirvanna or Buddhahood is a
subjective state that can come and go as an experience (impermanent) and
an eternally potential state for every entity, as well (permanent).

How's that for a spinning answer.
