Excellent point. I'd heard that some zen buddist monks tried MDMA, and one
commented that its effects were what he had spent a lifetime of meditation
etc. to achieve. He said that it was a good experience to give someone
insight into what can be achieved, and shed some light on the path, but that
it's no substitute for what he'd done. I think it's easy to get caught
believing that they are the endpoint rather than just another potential
vehicle on the journey -- good at giving insight, if that is your goal, but
not the answer to everything :).
