Maybe not strictly true that no one studies this.

Scholars like Stuart Piggott and Nora Chadwick have made contributions
of note to this.   There are nuggets of information concealed in the
wreckage if no certainties and certainly no well defined cult that one
might follow.

The detective work is vastly entertaining if not particularly
profitable.
