It apparently happens with some frequency throughout Southern India...usually a
goddedss who gets peeved that Her Temple is being neglected, or people have
been traveling out of the way to attend newer, bigger, nicer shrines to every
Drapaudi-come-lately and ignoring the little pile of rocks right outside the
door. Her response is frequently to possess someone in the village, often a
pre-pubertal girl, and demand to be appeased, toot-sweet, or *else*. When the
message is ignored or misinterpreted, reportedly all kinds of calamities
befall, till somebody figures it out...et voila, the Devi is happy, everybody's
happy! ;>

Love is the law, love under will.
