From: mbalamba@aol.com (Mbalamba) Newsgroups: alt.magick.tantra Subject: Re: Breath Control Dangers Date: 16 May 1997 21:42:01 GMT It is part of Kundalini Yoga to control the breath. But this is not the same as "breath control." Yes, I know that sounds paradoxical. Anyone who thinks of what happens in diving as being closely related to what you do in Kundalini Yoga just hasn't practiced the latter. As far as Iyengar is concerned, BKS is a very wise man, but what he preaches in his books is not what is done in Kundalini. Remember that Kundalini is the "forbidden" yoga in the eyes of teachers of (for example) hatha yoga. The comment you received here about paying attention to your body is pertinent. If you are interested in these concepts, then I strongly suggest you take some classes in Kundalini yoga. Look at the Kundalini sites here at the Kundalini Resource center. I have been over-long here, but KY is so widely misunderstood (as is true for Tantra) that it is important you try it for yourself, with competent guidance. Clyde
