Since talking about "Prince of Darknessism", "Prince of Darknessians", and those who are "Prince of Darknessic" is cumbersome [and brings out snickers from the best of us :-)], it's much more convenient to adopt this latest name invented by Judeo-Christianity and talk about Satanism, Satanists, and those who are Satanic. But that does not mean that we who follow the elder dark gods, or walk in their shadows, are Christian, any more than you are. The most common name for the Prince of Darkness in the year of those people's lord 1995 happens to be "Satan," since that's the name millions of people have assigned to the Prince of Darkness through the faulty teaching of their churches and televangelists. I work with (not worship) the Prince of Darkness, generally under the name Set, with some strong relation to the ancient Egyptian Neter (though my religion isn't identical or necessarily even close to the ancient religion). No matter what I do, Christianity is going to call me a Satanist because I work with the Prince of Darkness, and because my ethics, priorities, and viewpoints don't echo those of Christianity's teachings and teachers. Therefore, since Satanism is just one more name for Prince of Darknessism (and a whole lot easier to pronounce and write), I'll accept the somewhat inaccurate title of "Satanist," answering to Christianity (when I can): "You call me a Satanist. Fine. Now let me tell you about this Satanist..." and I generally confuse them because of my other non-Satanic (from their viewpoint) attributes (ie: no torture, no abuse, no desecration, no anti-Christ attitude. etc). Since others who practice forms of Prince of Darknessism are also found using this name of Satanism, it also provides a means of cross-fertilization of ideas. That's why I am called a Satanist.
