The female "waiting womb" is mentioned in parallel with the male >(well, really androgyne, but it's given to the male chorus) "gilded >tomb" in the anthem of the mass. This is quite curious in and of >itself! Of course, these both pay homage to the semen that the anthem >celebrates. Glory to thee! Well, one interpretation of this is that the men and the women are hailing the sperm _from_ the orifices which would receive it. So, 'gilded tomb' is the male rectum, 'gilded' because of AC's habit of portraying the anus as a golden ring (see Liber Aleph) and a 'tomb', because the semen dies there without passing on life - see the commentary to ALIM in MITP. 'Waiting womb' is the mature female response, the fertile womb 'waiting' to be impregnated by the semen. 'Earth unploughed' is thus the virgin male anus, through rather obvious symbolism, and 'virgin vowed' is the exact female counterpart. There is anal symbolism elsewhere in the Mass, e.g. the interpretation of the 'handmaiden' to the Lady. Cav -- Give me a woman who's taken her knocks, Who's tasted both gutter and stars.
