Actually, all I said is that Francis provided a photocopy of a postal card from Crowley to Francis, which used the IXth degree salutation. One may guess what it meant, but in itself it means little. Since Francis obviously knew the secret anyway, based on other information, and since we would have been delighted to have had him as a member of any degree short of Xth in OTO, we offered to regularize. He turned that down politely. Personally, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that Crowley wrote him down for the degree someplace. Likewise, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Francis declined or passed over such an offer in silence. All I get from this is that AC thought highly of Francis at the time of writing the card. The IXth degree salutation after all is just a triadic honorific and does not explicitly say "IXth degree". It is a little unusual see an address of "T.H., T.I. and T.I. Brother" without something of that, but we've used it to test people who claimed to the IXth from Crowley's days. Francis knew what it meant. 93 93/93 Bill Heidrick
