Crowley apparently thought that he discovered this figure in the sense
of introducing something new.  It is not all that common, but known from
several precursors.  E.g. Giordano Bruno used it as the basis for his
"Figura Amoris" in _Articuli Centrum et Sexaginta Adversus huius Tempestatis
Mathematicos atque Philosophos_, 1588 e.v. -- source, TLC Feb. 1992 e.v.
