#In the process he gave Crowleyan Thelema its own version of the
#insoluble "problem of evil" that dogs traditional Christianity. If
#will is pre-existent and omnipotent, then how is it that there is such
#a thing as restriction of the will?

my impression was that true will was pre-existent and omnipotent,
but that will itself was plainly restrictable. besides, the idea
of restriction as Crowley describes it within his Commentaries
appears to delve more into restrictions of conceptualization than
of physicality -- as we cease to somehow identify with a force or
object, restricting ourselves from its nature, so we also cease to
have power with respect to it (see Rabbi Jeffrey's article on
restriction to which I quipped a reply recently).

#...How do we know that it exists?

it may be felt, that life-force of sentient existence, and is
symbolized by the Egyptian symbol of the ankh. it may be fanned into
flame by 'energized enthusiasm'. it can be challenged and yoked to
the back of a magical oath. it can be thwarted where not true, and
it can be violated by those whose orbits exceed their true will.

#What is the meaning of its attribute of righteousness?

when speaking of the true will, its righteousness derives from the
fact that it fits within the Coherent Perfection and cannot be turned
aside, a true 'magical oath' swerving not at all. to the deist it is
the 'Will of God' and its nature is Love.

#Why should we prefer it to other things?

because it is our 'tao' or way of living, and we veer from it only
by pitting ourselves against the universal current. the course of
least resistance is always preferred in the long-term even while
short-term we may benefit at times from bouncing against the sides.
