For information :

The "Rite Ancien et Primitif de Memphis Misraom" is seemingly alive and
well in France. The present (at least as of 1995) Grandmaster Girard
Kloppel, has worked hard at gaining acceptance of this rite by the other
"big" masonic rites in France. To this end he has published lots of
interviews, written introductions to books, and tried to be as public as
possible with the organisation. According to a 1991 review of masonry, the
rite had at that time, about 1000 members distributed over 40 lodges in
France.

A history of the rite was published in 1989 "Magonnerie Egyptienne
Rose-Croix et Nio-Chevalerie : Les fis de Cagliostro" (Editions de
Rocher, 1989). The majority of the text was originally written as a
Master's thesis in religion and it is quite objective but very dry
reading (about 500 pages) - with lots of facts. (Normally this would
not be a criticism...)

A historical review of certain key texts and rituals has also appeared
"Arcanes et rituals de la magonnerie igyptienne" by Serge Caillet
(Tridaniel) which I have seen in the bookstores but have not read. I
think Mr. Caillet has also published a history of Egyptian masonry, but
I have not seen it.

As this rite claims to have been founded by Cagliostro, and as Crowley
claims to be the "reincarnation" of Cagliostro (with a very qualified
definition of reincarnation, Confessions, p838 and 203), and as Crowley
seems to have accepted that Cagliostro founded Egyptian Masonry
(Confessions, p698), it can only follow that this rite is important
to the history of Thelema.

Their address as of 1991 was as follows :
    63, rue Froidevaux
    75014 Paris
