'secret' implies repercussion for discussing them and a habit of patrol of those involved to be sure they aren't exposing the organization's bits to the rest of the world. 'private' is more permeable, not subject to official (rather than personal) restraint. private rituals would leak out as those who were involved with them became familiar with them sufficiently and wanted them to be known by others for some reason. at that point it would probably be a good idea to begin to change them once more and 'release' the old rites for general study. those whose tongues were too loose would be relegated to the last stages of private release. compare it to the release of computer programs, starting with the programmers, the corpora- tion, the company, and then leaked to the world (or sold, in the case of for-profit applications). I'd compare it to an ever-opening flower, supporting the creation of membership-admittance rites. there'd be alot less emphasis on keeping the particular rites from prying eyes or ears. # LVX, NOX blessed beast! nigris (333)
