I speak as a Gardnerian with some experience in other Trads:

: I'm curious, what exactly are the differences between Garnerian and
: Alexandrian Wicca. For that matter is there a difference between the
: Garnerians, the Alexandrians, Dianics, the Cunnigham, Conway traditions.
: Buckland?

Alexandrian is descended from the Gardnerian, and is quite similar in
ritual structure. Buckland is an old Gardnerian, whose books teach
systems based on that one, with his own twists. Dianic Wicca is all
female, all Goddess-centerd. Few Dianics seem to even acknowledge the
God. What I have read of Cunnigham looks quite New Age and somewhat
fluffy to me. However, I am not an expert on him. Some of his stuff is
very useful. Don't know about Conway.

: Is there a nutshell explanation, or is it a secret. Is the difference in
: Ritual or Ceremony, Philosophy, Structure? Just a series of Family
: Squabbles.

The nutshell answer to all of those questions is, "Yes." There are
differences in Ritual wordings and gestures. Differences in Ritual
order. Differences in basic philosophies and kinds of magic used. SOme
have degree systems, some don't. In some, the HPS and HP are the
leaders, and in some, everybody takes their turn as HPS/HP. That can
even vary from coven to coven within a Trad, and in a coven, from one
Ritual to the next. Some covens operate with a rigid heirarchy. Others
of the same Trad don't. My sister wears a panty girdle. I wear cotton
briefs. We both cover our backsides, but we do it differently.

: What about the new stuff, what Tradition would Starhawk's Spiral Dance be,
: Ravenwolf's (sp?) To Ride A Silver Broomstick (?)?

I don't know about Ravenwolf, but Starhawk started as a member of the
Faerie Trad, I think, and has developed the Reclaiming Trad from there.
Faerie is the creation of Victor Andersen, who goes back pretty far, not
as far as Gardner. For more on it, use a seach engine to find the Web
Page of Francesca Dubie.

: Anyone?

Anyone else? More info needed, here. Somebody fill in the blanks,
and/or correct anywhere I'm off.

Nina
