The occult symbolism of colours, especially as used in hoodoo folk magic and in esoteric metaphysical rites, was beautifully presented in Mikhail Strabo's influential 1943 book, "How to Conduct a Candle Light Service," specifically in the chapter titled "The Colour Candle Service in Spiritualist Churches," from which these brief extracts are drawn:
"GREEN is the colour of development. It blends the intellectual force of yellow with the spiritual force of blue. It is the colour of growth on all planes. It represents the spirit of all growing things. ...] It is the colour that indicates worldly power and property. It represents the reward for our season of toil, struggle, and application. It is the colour of our earthly and spiritual reward. In Spiritual healing, green indicates generation and regeneration on the material plane, especially in matters of financial abundance."
